About two years ago, when I was turning 25, I had the idea to share my top books from each quarter since I would be celebrating turning a quarter of a century. Needless to say I didn’t end up doing it. However, my reading has skyrocketed this year and I’d love to share some of my ultimate favorites so far.
Hearts on Hold by Charish Reid
It should come as no surprise that my favorite book for January is Hearts on Hold! It has the steamiest romance, relatable characters and the best plot and storyline that I’ve read from a romance book. I read it in one sitting and couldn’t get enough! I highly recommend checking this one out if you’re in the mood for glorious tension, off the charts steam and a great story about two people finding each other when they need the person most!
Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika and Maritza Moulite
I read alot of great reads in February. But my all-time favorite is definitely Dear Haiti, Love Alaine. Alaine has quickly become one of my favorite YA Main Characters. From her sharp wit, to her overwhelming need to protect her loved ones, she is one of the most well rounded characters I’ve read about in a while. I loved that the story mostly took place on the beautiful island of Haiti. I learned so much about the island’s history, landmarks, and socio-economic standings/division. But my favorite part was getting an insight to the island and its people’s different spiritual practices. This YA Contemporary is chock full of family drama, crazy antics and love. Both romantic and familial. I raced through the book in two days and I’m counting down the time when I’ll be able to re-read it.
When You Were Everything by Ashley Woodfolk
Last but most certainly not least, we have my favorite March read, When You Were Everything. This book positively broke my heart. The story follows two best friends, Cleo and Layla, and the unfortunate moments that ended their friendship. Set in the past and present, I watched as their friendship unraveled and its aftereffect’s. I had to put the book down several times because it reminded me of a few close friends I’ve lost over the years and just how much that loss still effects me now. I highly recommend checking this one out!
And there you have it! I have to be honest, I’m a bit nervous for next quarter because I already have three or four books that are in my top and it’s only May lol
What are some of your favorite books from January – March? Let me know in the comments down below!
